Siemens AG Austria and OMV AG have agreed in a letter of intent to reduce CO2 emissions in the area of heavy goods transportation and logistics companies. Electric drives are playing an increasingly important role in heavy goods transportation. The number of electric buses and – trucks has been increasing significantly for years. so the vehicle operators need appropriate charging facilities. This is the aim of the cooperation between Siemens AG Austria and OMV AG. The two companies want to provide innovative and future-proof charging solutions – so-called eDepots – to meet the growing demand for sustainable mobility. They have many advantages for fleet operators, especially in the transportation and logistics sector. "By combining our strengths and expertise, we offer intelligent complete solutions in the eDepots operated by OMV AG. We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to switch to electromobility," emphasizes Peter Vysny, Vice President eMobility OMV AG.
"Together, we want to implement innovative and efficient solutions for the electrification of vehicle depots that not only master the technological challenges of today, but also pave the way for the mobility of tomorrow," says Gerrit Pürstl, Head of E-Mobility at Siemens AG Austria. "This partnership marks another milestone in our efforts to make bus and heavy goods transport in Europe more environmentally friendly."
With the future-oriented eDepots for heavy goods transport, companies can not only significantly reduce operating costs and CO2 emissions, but also increase their fleet availability. OMV AG relies on so-called 360-degree solutions in eDepots. They include various services – from infrastructure planning and the use of charging stations to the optimization of network usage and detailed analyses. The vehicle fleet can be electrified with the eDepot easily, efficiently and sustainably.
The cooperation between Siemens AG Austria and OMV AG will initially be implemented in a pilot phase in Austria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary.
